New Blackhawks Twitter Avatar Shows No Stanley Cup
CHICAGO (CBS) -- It's likely just a coincidence, but the timing for the new Chicago Blackhawks Twitter avatar is a little interesting. The new avatar, which was apparently changed at some point on Sunday, is absent of the Stanley Cup.
Throughout the regular season, and into the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Twitter avatar was a depiction of the Stanley Cup and the Blackhawks logo.
But on Sunday the team decided to make a change to a newer avatar, it was a change the team said they had been discussing since the playoffs began.
The timing is unfortunate, seeing as on Sunday the Blackhawks dropped their third straight game and now face a quick elimination from the playoffs. But the change likely doesn't mean that the team is throwing in the towel on the season.
Trailing the Vancouver Canucks 3-0 in the first round of the playoffs, the Blackhawks will have to win on Tuesday if they want to have any chance to become the first team since the 1998 to repeat as champions.
