New Bears DE Houston Plans To Bring 'Dick Butkus' Attitude To Chicago
(CBS) New Bears defensive end signee Lamarr Houston already knows how to play to the Chicago audience.
In explaining the attitude he wants to bring to the franchise, Houston referenced legendary Bears linebacker Dick Butkus, saying he wants to play in the same manner.
"What set the Bears apart for me besides having a team that's in a position to win is the attitude of the players who have played there before," Houston the Bears' official website. "Guys like Dick Butkus, with that nasty, in-your-face tough football. That's what I love to play and being in an organization that embraces that, I think it's a good fit for me."
Houston signed with the Bears in the first hour of Tuesday's free agency, reportedly for five years and $35 million. He had six sacks last year for the Raiders and will be counted on to be the Bears' go-to pass rusher.
