New App Allows Commuters To Pay By Smartphone At CTA Park & Ride Lots
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Paying for parking at several CTA stations is about to get much easier – there's now an app for that.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, if you are paying to park at any of 14 Chicago Transit Authority Park & Ride lots, you will be able to use your smartphone to pay for your parking space. You will even get a text alert when your time is about to expire.
Once riders arrive at a parking space, they can place a phone call or use the Parkmobile smartphone app to enter their parking space number and begin the transaction.
Payments are secure and are linked to a credit or debit card. Parkmobile will contact commuters 15 minutes before their time is about to expire.
The Parkmobile app is available at lots managed by Central Parking System along the Blue, Brown, Green, Orange and Pink lines, the Chicago Tribune reported. The parking lots for the Howard Red Line terminal, the Skokie-Dempster Yellow Line terminal, and the Linden Purple Line terminal are not included, the newspaper reported.
Parkmobile is subcontracting with Central Parking System, so the app is coming at no cost to the CTA, the Tribune reported.
