Nearly $5M In Cocaine, Heroin Seized In Bust
CHICAGO (STMW) - Police responding to a call of a suspicious vehicle on the Southwest Side on Friday uncovered nearly $5 million worth of heroin and cocaine in the car, police Supt. Jody Weis announced on Sunday.
On Friday afternoon, officers were notified of a suspicious vehicle near 33rd Street and Pulaski Road. They found the car and in it uncovered 21 kilograms of heroin and 13 kilograms of cocaine. Some of the packages of drugs were found hidden in the car's door panels. The heroin has an estimated street value of $3,150,000, and the cocaine has an estimated street value of $1,625,000, Weis said.

Weis noted the drug seizure at a press conference Sunday where he also announced preliminary crime statistics for the month of October, according to police News Affairs.
No arrests have yet been announced in connection to the drug seizure and according to police News Affairs the car may have been unoccupied at the time.
Police called the drug recovery a significant blow to the drug trade in Chicago.
