CHICAGO (STMW) - As Chicago gets into the thick of the blizzard, 79,000 customers are left without power, Commonwealth Edison is reporting Tuesday evening.
As of 10:00 p.m., a total of 79,000 customers are in the dark, with 46,000 of those in Chicago, ComEd spokeswoman Alicia Zatkowski said.
In the north suburbs, 9,300 have no power, while in the south suburbs, 18,000 are affected, Zatkowski said. In the west suburbs, 4,600 customers are in the dark.
Zatkowski said ComEd saw a large drop in power between 6 and 6:40 p.m. with strong winds picking up. One hundred crews are working to fix the power and 135 will be out later Tuesday evening working to restore power.
