Nearly $1.5 Million In Silver, Gold Found In Drug Dealer's Storage Space
GLEN ELLYN, Ill. (CBS) -- Some lucrative loot was discovered in the western suburbs as federal agents carried out a major drug investigation.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, a federal complaint says nearly $1.5 million worth of silver bars and silver and gold coins, and $75,000 in cash, was found in a storage unit rented by William Brock, 36, of Glen Ellyn, according to the Daily Herald.
The storage unit was located at Lock Up Self Storage, at 431 Ogden Ave. in Lisle, the newspaper reported.
Brock had been picked up in North Highlands, Calif., on a drug charge. Agents had found nearly 300 pounds of marijuana in the minivan he was driving.
The complaint says Brock has admitted to dealing marijuana out of his west suburban home, and after all the pot he allegedly had was seized, he reportedly said to Will County Sheriff's deputies, "The South Side of Chicago will be hurting for weed for a while," the Daily Herald reported.
Brock told sheriff's deputies he had fronted about $1 million worth of marijuana to customers, and one of his customers was on the hook to him for $270,000, the Daily Herald reported.
