Near North Chase Bank branch robbed
CHICAGO (STMW) - A man got away with cash Saturday afternoon after robbing a Chase Bank on the Near North Side.
The robbery happened about 12:45 p.m. at a Chase Bank branch at 71 W. Chicago Ave., police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
The robber -- described as an older man with a scruffy beard wearing soiled clothing, faded black jeans and a skull cap -- showed a note to the teller and got a way with an undisclosed amount of cash, Mirabelli said. He then fled west on Chicago Avenue. No weapon was displayed.
According to unconfirmed dispatch reports, the man took a "large amount of money."
