NCAA Selection Show Ratings Tie 16-Year Low
Despite there being plenty of controversy surrounding the NCAA Tournament selections and seedings, the ratings the for the Selection Show tied a sixteen-year low for CBS on Sunday evening.
The Selection Show that featured the CBS debuts of Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith, drew a 4.4 overnight rating, according to Sports Media Watch. That rating was down 8% from the 2010 and 2009 Selection Shows (4.8).
The show tied the lowest rating, along with 2008, since 1994. The show had earned at least a 5.0 overnight each year from 1996 to 2005, and a 5.7 overnight in 2005.
Barkley and Smith are Turner Sports NBA analysts, but because of the new broadcast format they will be part of the analysis throughout the tournament.
