Navy SEALs Dive In Shedd Aquarium Tank

CHICAGO (CBS) -- U.S. Navy SEALS joined fish at the Shedd Aquarium Tuesday, to promote the Navy, and the ocean.

As WBBM Newsradio 780's John Cody reports, Senior Navy Chief Joseph Jones did play-by-play as his Navy SEAL team colleague went diving in the Shedd's coral reef tank – a nicer environment than SEAL standard.

"We dive in harbors – in and around harbor areas where there's not a lot of marine life, and we do it at night, in different equipment; in a bubble-less system called the LAR V Draeger," he said.

As comfortable at the Shedd as the Navy SEAL in the water was 13-year-old Matt Lenz, who clearly knew his way around the reef.

"That's a green moray eel and that's probably 6 feet long," he said, observing one fish in the tank. "It's just resting on the bottom. It's very cool to look at."

The Navy SEALS are at the Shedd for part of Navy week in Chicago.
