Naperville Resident To Step Forward Tuesday To Claim $265 Million Jackpot
(CBS) -- The winner of the largest lottery jackpot in Illinois history is coming forward to claim a Mega Millions prize of $265 million.
CBS 2's Derrick Blakley pays a visit to Naperville, where the mystery winner lives.
We're expected to find out Tuesday how that person is. For now, Naperville is playing the game of Who's the State's Newest Multi-Millionaire?
Someone in the western suburb of 145,000 people is $265 million richer. But not everyone is enthralled.
"I couldn't care less," says one resident, perhaps because he's not the ticket owner.
The winning ticket was sold Jan. 16 at a Bucky's Express BP station in Glendale Heights. It was only revealed Monday that the winner hails from Naperville.
"I was actually just thinking of the psychological mechanisms of winning the lottery," says Nicole Mayer, who teaches psychology at North Central College.
"It's actually a really scary thing," she adds. "There's the fear that people are going to be asking for money. These can create awkward situations."
The Bucky's Express has already received big bucks -- $500,000 -- for selling the big ticket.
But the big reveal comes Tuesday.
Making a public acceptance of a big lottery win is required to actually get your cash.
Of course, that's a problem most of us will never have to worry about.
