Naperville Meth Trafficking Suspects Held On $1M Bond
WHEATON, Ill. (STMW) -- Two Iowa men accused of transporting nearly 10,000 grams of methamphetamine through DuPage County were ordered held on $1 million cash bond Wednesday.
Judge Elizabeth Sexton ordered Edgardo Rodriguez-Sanchez, 20, and Jesus Rubio, 25, both of Des Moines, Iowa, held on a $1 million full cash bond, according to a release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's office. The two also must prove the money was not obtained by illegal means.
They are each charged with one count of felony methamphetamine trafficking and felony possession with intent to deliver 900 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Police stopped Rubio's truck Tuesday afternoon near Route 59 and Meridian Parkway in Naperville for several traffic violations and a canine dog detected narcotics, the release said. The officer obtained permission to search the truck and found 19 one-bound bags of methamphetamine hidden under a pile of shingles in the bed of the truck.
Police recovered 9,847 grams of methamphetamine with a street value of $990,000, the release said.
If convicted, both men face up to 120 years in prison, the state's attorney's office said.
Both men are scheduled to be back in court Nov. 5.
