Naperville Man Could Get Life For Molesting Girls Who Lost Mother To Murder
WHEATON, Ill. (CBS) -- A Naperville man could be sentenced to life in prison after his conviction for sexually assaulting two young sisters who were sent to live with him after their mother was murdered.
As WBBM Newsradio's Terry Keshner reports, the two young girls' mother was murdered in St. Louis in 2004, and the girls were then sent to live with Christopher Carter – to whom they are related – in the apartment that Carter shared with his mother in the 1600 block of Brookdale in Naperville.

Prosecutors said Carter first began sexually abusing the older sister, who was about 10 when they moved in. Then in 2007, Carter began attacking the younger sister when she was 10.
He was abusing both girls until May 2008, when one of the victims told a friend who notified police, prosecutors said.
"Simply put, Christopher Carter is a sexual predator who cares nothing for his victims," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said. "His victims had just lost their mother to murder and were sent to live with him. Instead of loving and nurturing them in their most desperate time of need, Mr. Carter used and abused them to satisfy his own nauseating desires."
Carter, 43, contended that the girls made up the allegations of sexual abuse because they didn't like his strict discipline.
Prosecutors relied on statements from the girls and DNA evidence.
A jury convicted Carter Wednesday of criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual assault of a child. He is eligible for a life prison sentence, and will return to court Sept. 12 for a pre-sentencing hearing.
