Museum Returns Heisman Trophy To Reggie Bush's Family
SAN DIEGO (CBS) -- A San Diego museum has returned the Reggie Bush's Heisman trophy to his family, even though Bush has been found ineligible for the trophy he received.
USA Today reports the San Diego Hall of Champions returned the trophy to the former University of Southern California running back's family, calling off earlier plans to display it in their museum.
Bush won the Heisman trophy in 2005, but had to relinquish the award after the revelation that he received improper extra benefits.
But the Hall of Champions revealed in June that it had the trophy, USA Today reported. Given that Bush has been rendered ineligible, the museum might have to return it to the Heisman Trust in New York, the newspaper reported.
Bush declined to comment to the newspaper.
USC also had to give back its copy of the trophy. Last month, the Bowl Championship Series stripped the school of its 2004 national championship.
