Murder Suspect Arrested After Being Deported From London

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago man suspected of a race-related shooting death last October tried to flee the country to London, but was deported back to the U.S. and arrested in New Jersey.
Maurice Hudson, 25, had been questioned by police after the Oct. 22 murder of Jorge Palacious on the West Side, but had been released without charges, police said.

After he flew from O'Hare International Airport to Heathrow Airport in London to flee the country, he told British authorities that he planned to work there, but was told no and was sent back to the U.S. in January.
He was sent back to the U.S. and when running his name upon re-entering the country, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials at Newark International Airport in New Jersey learned that Hudson was wanted on an arrest warrant in Chicago.
After several weeks of fighting extradition, Hudson was returned to Chicago on Thursday.
Grand-Central Area detectives re-interviewed Hudson on Thursday and he confessed to the murder, officials said. Hudson, who is black, allegedly told police that he did not like Hispanics and decided to kill one at random.
He saw Palacious sitting in traffic in the 5500 block of West Roosevelt Road and shot him in the neck, side and chest.
Cook County prosecutors approved a murder charge against Hudson on Friday and he was ordered held on $1 million bond at a hearing on Saturday.
