One Dead, Two Others Injured In West Garfield Park Shooting
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three people were shot, one fatally, during what police called a drug-related robbery on Wednesday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.
The shooting happened at Kilpatrick Avenue and Jackson Boulevard, police said.
Police News Affairs Officer Michelle Tannehill said at the scene that three young men were traveling down Kilpatrick Avenue in a gray vehicle and stopped at the corner. They got into a quarrel with an armed offender, and that offender took out a gun and shot them all, police said.
The driver lost control and hit a parked car, police said.
A 15-year-old boy was shot in the thigh and was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County. A 19-year-old man was shot in the leg and was taken to the same hospital, police said. Both were in good condition.
The driver, a man in his 20s, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital, Tannehill said.
Detectives late Wednesday were investigating the shooting as a narcotics-related robbery.
Area North detectives were speaking to several people of interest late Wednesday, Tannehill said.
Anyone with surveillance video or other information is asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 747-8380, she said.
