Muller: Is It A Sin To Root Against Tebow?

(CBS) Are you planning on cheering for the New England Patriots tomorrow night when they square off against the Denver Broncos in their AFC Divisional Playoff game?
Don't do it.
God won't approve.
Do you really want to risk eternal peace and happiness inside the Pearly Gates in exchange for eternal damnation at the Gates of Hell because of one man?
I am.
The good Lord may just smite me for typing this—and I do beg forgiveness for what I am about to say--but I can't help myself anymore:
I want Tim Tebow and the Broncos to lose to Tom Brady and the Patriots.
Now before you go running for the holy water and crucifixes, it needs to be known that I have no problem with Tim Tebow the person.
I think he is a great individual off the field and I would love it if more athletes, celebrities, and people of influence would take a page out of the Book of Tebow on how to be positive role models for today's youth.
Seriously, whether Mr. Tebow is bringing a sick person and their family to a Broncos game, giving medical assistance to people of need in third world countries, or parting the Rocky Mountains as if he were Moses parting the Red Sea, no one can say they don't like the Broncos quarterback as a person.
But for as great of a human being Tim Tebow is… ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Do we really need to hear about the guy 24/7? Tebow coverage has gotten so out-of-hand, that I too am writing about the man. But all I am really doing is giving the guy even more coverage… which is the exact opposite of what I want to happen!
That right there is when you know that this "TebowMania" has gone completely overboard.
Normally, I am all about the underdog beating the favorite, but in this instance, I have to say that I am rooting for Goliath to take out David. I just need a break—even if it is just for a few moments—from this phenomenon.
Never in my life have I seen such a mediocre professional athlete get this much publicity.
And for what?
Tebow is an average (at best) quarterback on an average (at best) football team. What he has accomplished during the course of the season is a neat little story of perseverance, but there is no way this side show should have turned into an American obsession.
With Tebow and the Broncos out of the picture, maybe focus can return to the actual games instead.
That is all I want.
If the Patriots win tomorrow night, the skies may turn green, the seas may flood our coastlines, and fires may break out all across the Middle America. But if it means we won't have to hear about Tim Tebow for the rest of the season, then rooting for the Patriots is a chance I am willing to take.
Besides, Tebow will forgive me for my sins, right?
