Mother, Baby Shot In Back Of The Yards
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are searching for the gunman who shot and wounded a baby girl and her mother in the Back of the Yards neighborhood overnight.
The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 4500 block of South Paulina Street. The 22-year-old woman was holding her 15-month-old daughter as she stood outside with a group of people on the block, when someone rode by on a bicycle and opened fire, police said.
The woman was struck in the arm, and the child suffered a graze wound to the leg, police said.
Both were reported in good condition at Stroger Hospital of Cook County.
Police believe the shooting was likely gang-related.
No one was in custody Wednesday morning, as Area Central detectives continue to investigate.
