Most Expensive Mansion Ever Built On N. Shore For Sale
By John Dodge
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Winnetka mansion that purports to be the most expensive home ever built on the North Shore is back on the market, at a relatively big discount.
While it made its debut on the market in 2009 at $32 million, it is now being listed for $18.75 million.
According to the listing, the mansion, nicknamed Le Grand Reve (The Big Dream), was built and furnished for $41 million by owners, Sherwin and Deborah Jarol. (Sherwin Jarol made his fortune in the commercial real estate investment business.)
The 16,800-square-foot home has a total of 26 rooms, including six bedrooms and six bathrooms.
It also has a theatre room, a sewing room, exercise room, a spare kitchen and space for five cars in the garage.
The driveway is heated, so you don't have to buy a shovel for the snow.
The home was built in 2008 and designed by the Landry Design Group in Los Angeles.
The annual property taxes are listed at $152,000, plus there is a $1,100 annual home owner's assessment--as if that would be a budget buster.
