UPDATE: Moss To Bears No Longer 'A Real Possibility'
UPDATE: The Tennessee Titans have claimed Randy Moss. The Titans were the 22nd team in the waiver line and were behind the Bears. It appears as if the Bears were never serious about claiming Moss because if they had they would have won the claim, and they also never approached Jay Cutler about Moss.

The thought of Jay Cutler throwing to Randy Moss is very appealing to many Bears fans. Moss, arguably the league's best receiver, would not only add a receiving threat the Bears have never had, but also draw significant attention from defenses.
Hub Arkush joined the Boers and Bernstein Show on Tuesday to talk about the chance that Moss ends up a Bear. "I think it's a real possibility...[But] he's gotta get by three or four teams before the Bears can actually put in a claim," Hub said.
"If he gets by everyone else who's 4-3 or 4-4, or worse, I would say it's a little less than 50-50 that he could be a Chicago Bear," Hub said. "I know they're smart enough [at Halas Hall] to know what a difference he would make, if they could handle him, they know it would be a good addition. There's this hope that the [Mike] Tice relationship could help. They also worry a great deal that it would be more of a distraction, and so I'd say it's a little less than 50-50 that they put in a claim, but I think it's a definite possibility."
If Moss doesn't become an on-field or locker room distraction, there's no doubt that the benefits for the Bears would be tremendous. Not only wold Cutler benefit from an elite receiver talent, but the other receivers would have an easier time getting open as defenses double cover Moss.
"I see no downside what-so-ever," Hub said. "You know what you're getting. All the other 52 guys in the locker room know what they're getting...If you bring him in and he can't be a factor and you get rid of him, you're going to get credit for taking a chance. If you bring him in and he helps, you're a winner."
"I think it's a one year regardless, I certainly don't see the Bears giving him another two, three, four year deal. But that's the best part of it all. You get a guy who's motivated, with a team that has a crack at the playoffs. He could come in here and be Randy Moss again. I don't see a downside really."
