Morton Grove Family Disputes SIU Student's Cause Of Death
(CBS) -- A Morton Grove mother says her son was murdered despite the coroner's report.
19-year-old Pravin Varughese vanished last February from Carbondale. The sophomore at SIU was later found in a field several days after he went missing and his death was ruled hypothermia.
On Saturday, his mother told CBS 2 the funeral director tipped her off that her son may have died from something else. A second autopsy backs up the funeral director's claim.
It points to a number of injuries, including three big blows to the head as well as defensive wounds to his right forearm.
The victim's mother believes someone is responsible for her son's death.
"We just need answers... right now instead of grieving, we are just thrown into more and more questions, and there's no peace," said Lovely Varughese, Pravin's mother.
In February, Police said Varughese had gone to a party and accepted a ride from someone he met there. Police said there was a dispute and Varughese exited the car and headed into the woods.
Varughese's last tweet "Bloody knuckles . . . guess I was in a fight #backdown."
