More Than $4M Worth Of Cannabis Seized In Calumet City
CALUMET CITY, Ill. (STMW) -- More than $4 million worth of cannabis was seized after a months-long investigation of a south suburban Calumet City home.
At 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, tactical officers observed a mini van leaving the garage of a home in the 0-100 block of Highland Street, which for several months was under investigation for possible drug dealing, a Calumet City police release said.
The mini van was stopped and two large garbage bags with 69 freezer bags of cannabis were found, the suit said.
The driver of the van, Matthew L. Clark, 37, of the 12200 block of South Stewart Avenue, was charged with possession of cannabis and various traffic violations, the suit said.
At 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, tactical officers executed a search warrant at the home on Highland Street and found 920 pounds of cannabis, eight handguns, scales, and items used to package and distribute narcotics, the release said.
In total, 989 pounds of cannabis was seized with a street value of $4.5 million, the release said.
