Mom, Two Toddlers In Critical, Dad Hurt When SUV And Semi Cab Collide
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 20-year-old woman and her 1- and 3-year-old daughters were critically injured when the SUV she was driving on the Southwest Side Sunday morning collided with a semi tractor cab, then crashed into a store and a CTA bus shelter.
The woman's 25-year-old husband, who was also a passenger in the SUV, was also hospitalized, in good condition.
About 10:30 a.m., the SUV was heading west on 35th Street when it collided with a semi tractor cab which was traveling north on Western Avenue, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
The SUV then crashed into a food and liquor store and a CTA bus shelter.
All four family members who were in the SUV were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, according to Fire Media Affairs.
The woman and the two girls were listed in serious to critical condition, while the man was listed in good condition, according to Fire Media.
The driver of the semi refused medical attention at the scene, according to Fire Media.
The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the accident.
