Woman, Baby Struck By Car In Lincoln Park
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman and a baby were injured Monday afternoon when they were struck by a car in Lincoln Park.
A vehicle struck the woman and baby as they were walking in the 2400 block of North Clark Street around noon Monday. Police initially described the incident as a hit-and-run, but later said the driver stayed at the scene.
The woman and baby were struck right in front of the Mitazi Nail Salon.
"I just saw the little kid's stroller and the kid pretty much falling in front of my salon, and I came out to see," said Tiya Batochir, who works at the salon.
She said she saw the woman and child - who looked to be at least 2 years old - on the ground.
"There was no blood or anything. It didn't look like they were badly hurt at all, but she didn't get up, so she must have been hurt somewhere that made her not able to get up," she said.
Batochir said the woman was alert and talking.
The woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and the baby was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital, according to the Fire Department.
The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
The driver was issued two citations for striking a pedestrian in the roadway.
