Mobile Job Assistance Center Helping Will County's Unemployed
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A local job assistance program has been traveling across Will County to help people who are out of work find employment.
The Will County Mobile Workforce Center is a mobile home that has been turned into a job center, outfitted with a dozen computers for job seekers to use for writing résumés and fill out job applications online.
"We have 12 computers on board. They all have high-speed Internet access, so people can research careers online. They can apply for jobs online. They can do job search online. There's also special résumé writing software on all the computers," said Administrative manager Susan Flesssner.

The center helps 1,000 to 1,200 people each year, according to Flessner.
"Even with the unemployment rate going down, our numbers are holding rather steady. We've seen a little bit of a dip over the last six to eight months, but not a dip that's comparable with the unemployment rate," she said.
The latest unemployment rate for the Chicago metropolitan area is 5.7 percent, but Flessner said people in Will County still regularly show up for help from the Mobile Workforce Center.
Flessner said the Mobile Workforce Center is needed in Will County, because of its sheer geographic size.
The center visits Bolingbrook on Mondays, University Park on Tuesdays, Plainfield on Wednesdays, Wilmington on Thursdays, and Mokena on Fridays. You can get more information here.
