Missing Man's Body Found In Cal-Sag Channel
BLUE ISLAND, Ill. (STMW) -- A man reported missing from his south suburban home on New Year's Day was found floating in the Cal-Sag Channel on Monday.
Phillip Evans, 48, of Dixmoor, was reported missing at 9:15 p.m. on Jan. 1, according to Illinois State Police Trooper Clare Pfotenhauer.
At 11:08 a.m. Monday, a body was found on the south bank of the Cal-Sag Channel near I-57, west of Ashland at Mile Marker 319 in Blue Island, Pfotenhauer said.
The body was identified as Evans, of the 14500 block of Vail Avenue in Dixmoor, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
State police are investigating and an autopsy is scheduled for later Tuesday.
