Ex-Minn. AG's Daughter Found Dead In Chicago
UPDATED 12/13/10 6:02 p.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The former Attorney General of Minnesota's daughter -- who was once arrested for a highly-publicized alleged altercation with Chicago Police outside a nightclub on her 21st birthday -- hanged herself inside her Magnificent Mile condo Sunday.
Anne Hatch, 27, of 535 N. Michigan Ave., was pronounced dead in her apartment at 4:52 p.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Authorities said Hatch hanged herself. A Monday autopsy confirmed she died of hanging and her death was ruled a suicide, according to the medical examiner's office.
Hatch is the daughter of former Minnesota Attorney General Mike Hatch. He served as Minnesota's attorney general from 1999 to 2007 and unsuccessfully ran for governor of that state in 2006. He now practices law for a Minnesota-based law firm.
Anne Hatch and her sister, Elizabeth Hatch, were arrested in March 2004 for allegedly slapping two Chicago Police officers after being kicked out of the Crobar nightclub during Anne Hatch's 21st birthday party.
In the incident, Anne Hatch admitted to kicking in the window of a squad car. An officer also said Elizabeth Hatch struck an officer and knocked off his glasses, but she denied doing so.
The sisters also claimed they were victims of excessive force by the responding officers.
The sisters were found not guilty of misdemeanor resisting arrest, battery and criminal damage to property. Judge Colleen Sheehan cited inconsistencies between the court testimony of court testimony of Chicago Police Officers Jeffry Phillips and Timothy Karpiel and the arrest reports they filed days after the March 27, 2004, incident.
The Chicago Fire Department requested police for a suicide at Anne Hatch's residence at 3:39 p.m. Sunday, police said.
A source close to the investigation said there was no note.
According to the website of Hatch's law firm, Anne Hatch was one of three of his daughters, all of whom were Chicago residents.
A representative of the law firm could not immediately be reached for comment.
