Miller: No Conern Over 'Junk Yardage' Given Up
There are some fans who can never feel comfortable about their team. In Chicago, there's good reason for this as the city has a history of it's team's faltering.
Entering the 4th quarter of the Chicago Bears-Seattle Seahawks Divisional Round game, the Bears were ahead 28-3 and were dominating both offensively and defensively.
However, in the 4th quarter, the Bears' defense gave up 21 points to make the game look closer that it really was.
That defensive collapse, to some, may seem like a reason for concern as the Bears prepare for the Green Bay Packers.
"Well I think a lot of it is junk yardage," former Bears' quarterback and current analyst, Jim Miller said on the Danny Mac Show. "You know, even if you look at the Jets-Patriots game, a lot of the Patriots' yardage was kind of junk yardage as well. And, like any team, you want to put a stamp on it, you want to close the team out. And the Bears kind of closed them out earlier and you're never going to be happy with the final statistics."

In the 4th quarter the Bears' defense allowed 170 yards of offense and 21 points. For the game, the defense only gave up 276 yards and 24 points.
"At the end of the day, through three quarters, they only gave up [106] yards," Miller said. "I mean they basically did whatever they had to do. And the game was kind of out of reach at that point. So I understand where the [concern] is coming from, because you want to finish, but a lot of that, in my opinion, was junk yardage."
