Miller: Barber Did The One Thing He Couldn't Do
(WSCR) In the words of one former Bears quarterback, Marion Barber commited the ultimate no-no when he ran out of bounds in Sunday's 13-10 loss to the Broncos, ultimately costing his team a chance at the win.
"We can make all the excuses in the world, (but) Marion Barber is a seven-year player," Jim Miller told The McNeil and Spiegel Show. "Yeah, I'd like the coaches to remind him. I'd like Caleb Hanie to remind him, but at the end of the day, that's the situation. He's gotta know better. That cannot happen."

Barber's decision to run out of bounds stopped the clock, forcing the Bears to punt. Tim Tebow later orchestrated a drive that lead to the game-tying field goal.
Some have suggested that Caleb Hanie and the coaching staff should have reminded Barber to stay in bounds, but Miller said it's ultimately on Barber.
"There was probably a lot going through Caleb Hanie's head," Miller said. "You'd like him to give the running backs a reminder in the huddle, but this goes back to training camp. The first time you show up at training camp and you're installing the four-minute offense where you're trying to wind down the clock, the first thing in your playbook: running backs stay in bounds. ... It's the first thing that's taught."
