Mild Week In Chicago Could Set Record For Warmth On Wednesday
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago could break a record for warm weather on Wednesday, as temperatures are expected to get into the 60s.
It will be a warm, wet, and windy Wednesday for Chicago. The high could reach 62 degrees in the city, which would match the Dec. 23 record set in 1982, according to the National Weather Service.
Meantime, a few sprinkles are possible early Wednesday, and then storms could fire up in the afternoon and continue through the evening and overnight. While rain could be heavy at times, there is very little chance for severe weather, as the strongest storm activity should be south of Kankakee.
The storms could bring strong winds, with gusts of up to 40 mph.
While Wednesday easily will be the warmest day of the week, the rest of this week also will be quite mild for late December.
Every other day through Monday, temperatures should reach the mid to upper 40s, which is 10 to 15 degrees warmer than normal for late December.
The normal high temperature for Chicago this time of year is about 32 degrees, but it probably won't even get that cold except for Christmas Eve night, when that will be the low. The rest of the week, temperatures should get no colder than the upper 30s overnight.
