Mild Temps Continue Through Saturday, But Arctic Chill Arrives Saturday Night

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Temperatures should remain above normal for the next few days, but the coldest weather of the winter is coming next week.

Conditions should be dry on Wednesday, with a high of around 38, before a mix of sleet and freezing rain arrives early Thursday morning. That light wintry mix will transition to all rain by Thursday afternoon, and the rain will continue on and off through Friday, as temperatures hover in the upper 30s to low 40s through Saturday morning.

Saturday night will bring an Arctic chill to the area, as temperatures plunge into the upper teens, and then Sunday's high will reach only around 20. Temperatures will get even colder Sunday night, with a low around 8 degrees.

Chicago's temperatures have fallen into the teens only once so far this winter, when the city saw a low of 15 on December 19.

That cold snap will continue through Tuesday, as Monday's high will be only around 18 degrees, and Tuesday's high will be about 24.
