Mild Start To Week, But Colder Temperatures Coming Thursday
CHICAGO (CBS) -- An unseasonably mild start to December will take a bit of a break later this week, as temperatures will dip into the 30s later this week.
So far this month, only two days have had highs below 40 degrees, while there have been three days with a high of 60 or better, and two more with a high in the 50s.
While mild temperatures will continue to start the week, with a high of around 54 on Monday, 46 on Tuesday, and 52 on Wednesday, the end of the week will closer to normal for December in Chicago.
Temperatures Wednesday night will plunge to a low of about 33, and Thursday's high is expected to be about 38 degrees. That's still a few degrees higher than normal for this year, but Friday and Saturday will be even colder, with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s.
After a drizzly start to the day on Monday, conditions should be mostly dry all week, aside from a brief chance of rain Wednesday morning.
The cold trend at the end of the week is expected to last just a few days, as temperatures should be back to almost 40 on Sunday, and then in the upper 40s or low 50s to start next week.
