Mild, Dry Afternoon To Give Way To Overnight Snow
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Conditions will be mild and dry Monday afternoon, but look for a dusting of snow on the ground when it's time to go to work on Tuesday.
CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros reports as of 11:20 a.m., it was 38 degrees at O'Hare International Airport and 37 at Midway.
Cloud cover is moving in, but conditions will remain dry through the afternoon, with the mercury topping out at a pleasant 42 degrees.
But overnight, a cold front will bring a storm system that will begin dusting the area with snow. But don't worry too much – only 1/2 inch of accumulation or less is expected.
The snow will come after 3 a.m. Tuesday, and will transition to a rain-snow mix during the early daylight hours. By lunchtime, the storm system will head off to the east and only cloud cover will remain.
The high for the day Tuesday is 41 degrees.
But Glaros says we're in for an active weather pattern, and there will be chances of precipitation off and on throughout the week. Still, it will be in the 40s for five out of the next seven days.
