Metra Trains Delayed After Person Found Near Tracks
PARK RIDGE (CBS) -- Metra trains on the Union Pacific / Northwest Line are moving again after a person was found near the tracks in northwest suburban Park Ridge.
The engineer on inbound Union Pacific / Northwest Line Train No. 602 reported he saw something about 5:35 a.m. on the outbound tracks near Greenwood Avenue in Park Ridge, according to Metra spokesman Michael Gillis.
Officers responded to the report of a man down in the area and found a person near the tracks, according to Park Ridge police. The person was taken in an unidentified condition to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
Police did not disclose the gender or age of the person or if the individual was struck by a train, police said.
Train No. 604, which left Crystal Lake at 5:12 was held at the Cumberland station for about 25 minutes during the delay, Gillis said. Police gave Metra clearance to resume service at 6:10 a.m.
