Metra Train Strikes Pedestrain Near Palatine
PALATINE, Ill. (STMW) - A Metra train struck a pedestrian Wednesday night near northwest suburban Palatine.
Union Pacific Northwest Line train No. 659 struck a pedestrian about 9:35 p.m. at or near Rohlwing Road in Palatine by the Rolling Meadows border, Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said.
The train left Chicago at 8:30 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Harvard at 10:20 p.m., Gillis said. The train remained stopped at 10:15 p.m.
The train behind the one involved in the incident, train No. 661, will stop at the Cumberland station, Gillis said. Inbound train No. 662 is stopped just north of that location.
It was not known when the trains would begin moving.
