Metra Train Strikes Man In Riverdale
RIVERDALE, Ill. (STMW) -- An inbound Metra Electric train struck a man Saturday night in south suburban Riverdale.
The No. 144 Metra Electric train struck the man about 9 p.m. at the Ivanhoe station, Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said.
The man suffered a head injury when he went under the elevated platform but he was not directly hit by the train, Riverdale police Sgt. Rocky Graziano said.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Gillis said.
It was unclear whether the man was intoxicated, Graziano said.
The train was delayed for about an hour and then resumed service.
