Metra Train Hits Car In Northwest Suburbs
CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (CBS) -- A Metra train slammed into a car Tuesday morning at a crossing on the border between Cary and Crystal Lake.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, the situation could have been far worse.
The train, No. 604, hit the car at 5:19 a.m. at Three Oaks Road, Metra officials said.
Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said no injuries were reported, and it appeared the car was unoccupied.
The vehicle had been towed away by 6:20 a.m., and the train had left.
But the train, due into Chicago at 6:35 a.m., was 50 minutes late – a development that was expected to cause further delays.
