Metra Train Hits Car In Northbrook

NORTHBROOK, Ill. (STMW) - One person was hospitalized following a collision involving a Metra train and a vehicle Monday afternoon in north suburban Northbrook.
Milwaukee District/North Line Train No. 2136 was involved in a grade-crossing accident with a vehicle near Dundee and Waukegan roads about 1:30 p.m., Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said.
The train, which was traveling from Fox Lake to Union Station, was due in Northbrook about 1:30 p.m. It was stopped after the incident but was back on the move as of about 2:20 p.m., according to Metra.
At least two ambulances were sent to the scene, which reportedly involved entrapment, unconfirmed dispatch reports indicated.
One person was taken from the scene to an Evanston Hospital, according to Metra, but information about that person's condition and details on the crash were not immediately available.
Northbrook police referred inquiries to Metra, which is handling the investigation.
