Metra Train Delayed More Than An Hour When Doors Won't Close
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Passengers on a Metra train headed to Chicago on Friday morning got downtown about 80 minutes late because the train's doors would not close after a stop at the Naperville station.
The Metra BNSF Line train started in Aurora and was headed to Union Station in Chicago, according to spokesman Tom Miller.
When the train was at the station in Naperville, the doors would not close. Crews tried to get the doors to close but were unable to do so, and they were forced to send for "a rescue train" out of Chicago, Miller said.
Just why the doors would not close was still under investigation Friday afternoon by Metra, but Miller said it was "a mechanical issue" of some sort that caused the problem.
The train was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 8:34 a.m. The replacement train brought the passengers into Union Station shortly before 10 a.m.
