Metra Train Collides With Vehicle, Killing Driver
LAGRANGE, Ill. (STMW) -- A Metra train struck a vehicle Friday night in west suburban LaGrange, killing the driver and halting train service on the BNSF Railway line.
BNSF Railway equipment train No. 1282 struck a vehicle near the LaGrange Stone Avenue station about 5:45 p.m., according to Metra's website.
Metra confirmed to CBS 2 the driver of the vehicle died.
The inbound train was not carrying any passengers and was headed to Chicago, where it would turn around for a scheduled outbound run, Metra spokesman Tom Miller. No injuries were reported to Metra personnel on the train.
Service was disrupted but continued later on a delayed basis, Metra told CBS 2. It wasn't known if the accident was weather-related.
