Metra Service To Bartlett Back To Normal After Monday Crash
BARTLETT, Ill. (STMW) -- Metra officials said Tuesday morning that they expect "normal" service on the Milwaukee District West Line following a Monday afternoon crash betweeen a train and semi truck that injured two near northwest suburban Bartlett.
Wreckage blocked both tracks and halted trains Monday evening following the 3:38 p.m. crash near the Bartlett station, a spokeswoman for the commuter rail line said at the time.
Limited service was later resumed along the route.
As of Tuesday morning, however, service was expected to be back to normal, Metra announced on Twitter.
The crash injured two people -- both passengers on the train -- who were taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates with minor injuries, Bartlett police Cmdr. Michael McGuigan said. The driver of the semi was not hurt, he said.
Inbound train Metra No. 2242 was pulling into the Bartlett station when it hit the semi carrying cars and derailed, Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said.
An investigation into the cause of the crash was underway.
