Metra Passenger Refuses To Show Ticket, Sprays Conductor With Mace
WHEATON, Ill. (CBS) -- A West Chicago woman was arrested Monday morning after spraying a Metra conductor with mace when she refused to show her train ticket.
Latoya Moore, 27, was charged with one felony count of aggravated battery to a transit employee and one misdemeanor count of theft, according to Wheaton police.
Police received a call at 8:40 a.m. about a disturbance on a Metra Union Pacific-West Line train and learned Moore had boarded the train in West Chicago, then exited at the College Avenue station in Wheaton, Wheaton Police Deputy Chief Tom Maloney said.
When a conductor asked to see her ticket, Moore refused, prompting an argument. When another conductor approached, she sprayed one of them with Mace, Maloney said.
Moore was immediately arrested and was in custody at the Wheaton police station Monday morning. She will be transferred to the DuPage County Jail, Maloney said.
The conductor did not require any medical attention, he said.
The police activity delayed train, which was traveling from Elburn to Chicago, for about 25 minutes, Metra spokesman Tom Miller said.
