Men Shot Dead In South Chicago, Englewood
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Men were shot and killed overnight in separate incidents in the South Chicago and Englewood neighborhoods.
The earliest incident happened around 8:50 p.m. in the 8800 block of South Exchange Avenue, police said.
The man – identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Mario Brooks, 26 – was in his car and stopped at a stop sign when another vehicle pulled up alongside him and someone opened fire from the passenger side, police said.
Brooks was shot in the head and initially listed in critical condition.
Brooks, of the 9500 block of South Forest Avenue, was pronounced dead at 11:15 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The second incident happened at 9:55 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Elizabeth Street.
A man identified by the Medical Examiner's office as Cordarryl Hill, 21, was found lying in a pool of blood after being shot several times in the chest, side and leg.
Hill, of the 1200 block of West 83rd Street, was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County where he was pronounced dead at 10:32 p.m., according to the Medical Examiner's office.
Also overnight, a 22-year-old man was shot in the cheek and wounded in the North Austin neighborhood.
The 22-year-old man was shot in the cheek in the 5500 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue at 11:39 p.m., police said. He ran from the scene after being shot, but collapsed around the corner in the 1700 block of North Luna Avenue.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in guarded condition, according to police.
No one was in custody in any of the incidents Tuesday morning.
