Men Held After Burglarizing South Loop Preschool
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two men are in police custody, after they broke into a South Loop preschool and made off with several items early Wednesday.
The men, ages 18 and 20, are suspected of breaking into A Child's Space Early Literary and Learning Center, 1020 S. Wabash Ave., and taking a computer and other items, a Central District police lieutenant said.
About 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, a witness heard a loud crash -- which sounded like breaking glass – in the area. Then the witness saw two men then walking out the daycare center with a bag, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.
The witness called police, and Central District officers chased the two on foot. One was arrested at the 900 block of South State Street and the other was caught on the 900 block of South Plymouth Court the next block west, Perez said.
The officers recovered the items that were stolen, police said.
Burglary charges against the two were pending as of about 8:30 a.m.
