Men Charged In Oak Lawn Home Invasion, Police Chase
OAK LAWN, Ill. (CBS) -- Three men have been charged in a home invasion that led to a police chase through Oak Lawn.
Timmie Walton, 27, of Midlothian; and Chicago men Kennedy Clark, 50, and Keon Thigpen, 22, face charges of attempted murder, aggravated kidnapping and home invasion stemming from a Wednesday armed invasion of a home in the 10100 block of Buell Court, Oak Lawn police Division Chief Mike Kaufmann said.
All three are expected to appear for bond hearings in ridgeview Court Friday morning. Their bonds were not immediately available.
The victimized family owns a convenience store in the city of Chicago and had been targeted in November, Kaufmann said. They installed surveillance cameras in and around the house that led to charges against the three men.
Shortly after midnight Wednesday, the men approached two women sitting on the front porch and forced them around to a back door with guns, Kaufmann said.
A commotion broke out among the other people living in the home; and a man inside the home grabbed a shotgun and fired two shots, Kaufmann said.
One of the gunmen also fired a shot, hitting a 24-year-old woman in the arm, he said. She was treated at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Her injury was not life threatening, Kaufmann said.
The three fled in a sport-utility vehicle that headed north on Harlem Avenue into Summit, he said. They jumped from the moving vehicle at 61st Place, where two were captured, Kaufmann said. A third was arrested two hours later by Summit police.
A fourth suspect is still on the loose.
