Memorial Day Weekend Forecast: Warm, But Rain Likely Sunday And Monday
CHICAGO (CBS) -- If you're planning a cookout for the Memorial Day weekend, you might want to fire up the grill on Friday or Saturday, as storms could wash out your holiday plans on Sunday and Monday.
Temperatures were already in the low 60s late Friday morning, making their way to a high of about 70, and it should be sunny most of the day, with absolutely no rain in the forecast. Breezes will keep temperatures about 10 degrees cooler by the lake.
While temperatures will plunge into the high 40s overnight, Saturday will get even warmer, with a high of about 76, and while there will be some clouds throughout the day, it should be perfect weather for grilling, with no chance of rain.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Sunday or Monday. While temperatures again will reach the high 70s both days, there will be a chance of rain from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. There might be a chance for a dry slot – a break in the rain – the second half of the day on Monday, but it's not a given at this point.
The chance for rain will stick around after the holiday weekend is over, with showers or storms a possibility on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
