Memorial Day Weekend, Expect Low Fuel Prices And More Vehicles On The Road
(CBS) -- You'll find you're paying more for gasoline when you hit the road this holiday weekend.
You'll also find more of something else during your travels, CBS 2's Jeremy Ross reports.
Regular unleaded is $3.04 a gallon in Chicagoland. The national average is $2.73, according to AAA Motor Club.
The cost, of course, is significantly less, compared to previous years.
As a result, Phil Flynn of the Price Futures Group and a Fox Business Network contributor says drivers can expect more travelers on the road.
He also believes motorists will see more of one kind of car: light trucks, including SUVs.
Bob Lorquercio, owner of North Side Toyota, says the general drop in fuel prices confirms the trend.
He says greatly improved fuel efficiency is playing a role.
Flynn believes, barring any major market surprises, the holiday price spike we're seeing may be the top of pricing for the summer.
