Medical Examiner To Post Information, Photos Of Unidentified Bodies
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Beginning Wednesday, the Cook County Medical Examiner will post information about unidentified bodies, including, in some cases, photographs.
Spokeswoman Mary Paleologos confirms that the medical examiner's website will start to add that information in an effort to determine the identities of several corpses.
The office recently began working with the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, offering information about a few bodies that are currently in the morgue.
Those efforts led to the identification of a Michigan woman who was found dead on the North Side.
Cook County Medical Examiner Stephen Cina is hoping that a local website with that information would lead to more positive results.
The new site will include information such has physical descriptions and clothing. The site will also provide information on identified remains that have not yet been claimed.
Paleologos told the website DNAInfo that the morgue still has about 20 unidentified bodies.

Last year, CBS 2 obtained photographs of bodies piled up inside the morgue, leading to major changes in how the office is operated. Cina was appointed to run the office as a result of the scandel.
