Mediated NFL Labor Negotiations 'Going Well'
A six-hour federally mediated negotiation sounds about as much fun as watching paint dry.
But at least for the fans sake, the negotiations are progressing in a positive way.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch says federally mediated negotiations between the NFL and the players' union are "going well."
He adds Monday: "We'll see how things progress over the coming days."
Batch is a member of the NFL Players Association executive committee. He has been present at the four consecutive days of labor talks in front of a mediator.
Batch and two other current players - Cleveland Browns linebacker Scott Fujita and New York Jets fullback Tony Richardson - left Monday at 5 p.m., about six hours after the session began.
The league and union agreed to try mediation after months of infrequent - and sometimes contentious - bargaining. The current labor deal expires at the end of the day March 3.
