Mechanical Problem Halts Metra Train, Delays Others
CHICAGO (STMW) - Mechanical problems halted a Metra train bound for the western suburbs Tuesday night for more than an hour, causing headaches for other BNSF Railway commuters.
Outbound Train No. 1261 was stopped for an hour and ten minutes because of mechanical problems, but is on the move again as of about 6:30 p.m., Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said. He couldn't immediately say what the problem was.
Another outbound train behind it, No. 1263, was eventually able to get around it and is running about 50 minutes late, Gillis said.
One other train is delayed about 24 minutes, while riders on four other inbound and outbound trains are running about 15 minutes late because of the problems, Gillis said.
