McQueary Won't Coach Saturday Due To 'Multiple Threats'
(CBS) Penn State assistant coach Mike McQueary won't coach Saturday against Nebraska after all.
McQueary is the former grad assistant named in the grand jury report who chose not to contact authorities after witnessing former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky allegedly sexually assault a boy in a shower. After the Penn State Board of Trustees decided not to fire McQueary Wednesday night when they fired head coach Joe Paterno, media and critics from all over the country questioned how the school could possibly let him coach Saturday.
It turns out, they won't, but not because of the allegations.
In a simple one-sentence release, Penn State said the following Thursday night:
"Due to multiple threats made against Assistant Coach Mike McQueary, the University has decided it would be in the best interest of all for Assistant Coach McQueary not to be in attendance at Saturday's Nebraska game."
McQueary is still on the coaching staff and it is unclear whether or not he will coach in Penn State's final two games, both of which are on the road.
